Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund
The City of Galva is an active participant in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF), a public pension system established in 1941 to provide retirement, disability, and death benefits for employees of local governments and public school districts across Illinois, excluding the City of Chicago and Cook County. IMRF is one of the largest and best-funded public pension systems in the state, serving over 440,000 members and more than 3,000 employers. As a member, Galva ensures that its eligible municipal employees have access to secure, defined-benefit retirement plans, contributing to their long-term financial stability.
There is currently only one City of Galva employee whose compensation package is more than $75,000. It is the City Administrator position.

In accordance with Illinois law, any party initiating foreclosure on residential real estate within the City of Galva must send a copy of the foreclosure notice by first-class mail to the City. Additionally, a notice of the foreclosure confirmation order must also be mailed to the City once the foreclosure is finalized. These requirements help ensure the City is informed about properties in foreclosure within its boundaries.
Reporting Fraud, Waste, or Abuse…
To report suspected cases of fraud, waste, or abuse involving the City of Galva—including its employees, officials, contractors, or vendors—or to report violations of City policies that have a financial impact, call (309) 932-2555 and ask to speak with the City Administrator or the Mayor. All complaints will be investigated or referred to the appropriate authorities. Reports may be made anonymously or with contact information for follow-up. Individuals who report in good faith are protected under the Illinois Whistleblower Protection Act and other applicable laws. The City of Galva strictly prohibits and will not tolerate retaliation against anyone who reports or participates in an investigation of such matters.
