Internationally acclaimed Scottish band Skerryvore will bring its explosive blend of traditional Scottish music, folk, pop and rock to Wiley Park in Galva on Tuesday, September 22.

The evening will begin at 6:30 p.m. with Black Hawk Pipe and Drum Band, followed by Skerryvore. Presented by Crossroads Cultural Connections, the all-ages event will also feature food and drinks available for purchase from Snazzy’s Lemonade and Azteca de Oro.

Known for a sound that is both deeply rooted in Scotland and unmistakably modern, Skerryvore combines bagpipes, fiddles, accordion and whistles with guitar, vocals, bass, drums and keyboards. The result is a powerful, expansive sound that moves easily between intimate melodies and festival-sized energy.

Four-time winners of Scotland’s “Live Act of the Year” award, Skerryvore have grown from their beginnings in West Coast Scottish halls and pubs into one of the country’s leading musical exports. Their high-energy performances have taken them to audiences throughout the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom and Europe.

The band has played an important role in introducing traditional Scottish music to new audiences, combining generations-old instruments and musical traditions with the energy and production of contemporary rock and pop. Their seven studio albums reflect the wide range of influences brought together by the band’s members.

Skerryvore’s 2023 album, Tempus, reached No. 1 on both the Official Scottish Album Chart and the UK Folk Albums Chart, while also entering the Top 40 of the Official UK Albums Chart. Three singles from the album were featured on BBC Radio 2’s new music playlist.

Critics and presenters around the world have praised the band’s distinctive sound and live performances. Folk Radio UK described Skerryvore as having created a “world beating fusion” rooted in Scottish heritage, while the Anchorage Concert Association called their appearance its highest-rated show ever in post-concert surveys.

Guests should bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. A suggested donation of $25 to $35 will be collected.

Presented by Crossroads Cultural Connections, this concert continues the organization’s mission of bringing meaningful, high-quality live music experiences to Henry County and surrounding communities.
