Socks in the Frying Pan

August 27 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Internationally acclaimed Irish trio Socks in the Frying Pan will bring their high-energy blend of traditional music, harmony and humor to Ca d’Zan House Concerts in Cambridge on Thursday, August 27. Presented by Crossroads Cultural Connections, the all-ages concert will begin at 7 p.m., following an optional community potluck dinner at 6 p.m.

Formed in Ennis, County Clare, Ireland—one of the world’s great centers of Irish traditional music—Socks in the Frying Pan features Shane Hayes on accordion, Calum Bell on fiddle and David McKindley-Ward on guitar.

Known for what they call the “Socks Sound,” the trio combines virtuosic musicianship, deep respect for Irish musical tradition, pitch-perfect harmonies and a generous dose of quick wit and on-stage banter. Their energetic performances have earned them a reputation as one of the leading acts in contemporary Irish traditional music.

Since forming in 2014, Socks in the Frying Pan have toured extensively around the world, performing in 48 U.S. states and in countries across multiple continents. Their festival appearances have included the Walnut Valley Festival in Kansas, Electric Picnic in Ireland, Tønder Festival in Denmark and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.

The trio has released four studio albums and earned numerous honors along the way, including awards for Best New Band, Best Live Band, Album of the Year and Best Live Performance of the Year. Their latest release, Waiting for Inspiration, continued the group’s momentum and introduced their distinctive sound to an even wider audience.

What sets Socks in the Frying Pan apart is the balance between musical precision and a sense of fun. Their concerts move effortlessly between fiery instrumental sets, rich vocal harmonies and spontaneous humor, creating the kind of atmosphere that appeals equally to longtime fans of Irish music and first-time listeners.

Guests are invited to arrive at 6 p.m. for the optional potluck dinner and may bring a dish to share. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. Attendees should bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. A donation of $20 to $30 is suggested, and music lovers of all ages are welcome.

Presented by Crossroads Cultural Connections, this concert continues the organization’s mission of bringing meaningful, high-quality live music experiences to Henry County and surrounding communities.
