Joe Goodkin Album Release Tour

April 19 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Joe Goodkin Brings “Winedark Life” Album Release Tour to Bishop Hill with Special Guest Tom Campbell

Crossroads Cultural Connections is proud to present an evening of powerful songwriting and storytelling with Joe Goodkin, joined by opening act Tom Campbell, on Sunday, April 19 at Bishop Hill Creative Commons.

The evening will begin at 6:00 PM with an optional potluck dinner, offering guests a chance to gather and connect before the performance. Attendees are welcome to bring a dish to share if they wish to participate. The concert will begin at 7:00 PM.

This special performance is part of Joe Goodkin’s album release tour for his latest record, Winedark Life—a deeply personal and artistically ambitious work that reflects on identity, storytelling, and life on the road. Produced by acclaimed producer Brian Deck (Iron & Wine, Modest Mouse, Counting Crows), the album captures an intimate, live-recorded sound that places listeners directly inside the music.

A lifelong musician and modern troubadour, Goodkin is known for his innovative approach to songwriting, including his widely celebrated adaptations of Homer’s Odyssey and Iliad into contemporary song cycles. Blending music, storytelling, and conversation, these works have taken him to over 500 performances across all 50 U.S. states and throughout Europe.

With Winedark Life, Goodkin continues this journey—exploring themes of identity, vulnerability, and what it means to live and create on the margins. The album’s title draws from Homer’s famous phrase describing the sea, evoking both beauty and uncertainty, and reflecting the emotional depth of the songs within.

Opening the evening is Tom Campbell, a seasoned musician whose performances are rooted in the rich traditions of folk, pop, and classic rock. Drawing inspiration from artists like Gordon Lightfoot, Joni Mitchell, The Beatles, and Neil Young, Campbell brings warmth, authenticity, and a deep sense of connection to his music. Whether performing original songs or reinterpreting beloved classics, his goal is to create a shared musical experience that resonates with audiences on a personal level.

Presented by Crossroads Cultural Connections, this concert continues the organization’s mission of bringing meaningful, high-quality live music experiences to our area.

The event is open to all ages, with a suggested donation of $20–$30, 100% of which goes directly to the performers, supporting artists and sustaining live music.
