How to Apply For A Building permit?

Gather the necessary documentation for your permit application, which may include:

  • Completed permit application form 
  • Site plan or plat of survey 
  • Construction drawings or blueprints 
  • Specifications of materials to be used 
  • Description of the proposed work​  

Ensure all documents are accurate and complete to facilitate the review process.

Submit your completed application and supporting documents:

Required Inspections & Certificate of Compliance

Inspections

Inspections are a critical part of the construction process to ensure work complies with approved plans and codes. To schedule an inspection, contact the City Clerk’s Office.

Common inspections include:

  • Footing/Foundation Inspection: Before pouring concrete. 
  • Rough-In Inspection: After framing, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC installations, but before insulation. 
  • Final Inspection: Upon completion of all work.​

Ensure all work is accessible for inspection and that the site is safe for inspectors.​

Certificate of Compliance

After passing all required inspections, a Certificate of Compliance (also known as a Certificate of Occupancy) will be issued. This certificate signifies that the structure is safe for occupancy and complies with all applicable codes and ordinances.​
