SUMMARY:Ukrainian Vocal Ensemble YAGO
DESCRIPTION:Crossroads Cultural Connections will present a powerful and immersive evening of music and storytelling with contemporary Ukrainian folk group YAGODY on Sunday\, April 5 at Bishop Hill Creative Commons. \nThe evening will begin at 6:00 PM with an optional potluck dinner\, offering guests a chance to gather and share a meal before the performance. Attendees are welcome to bring a dish to share if they wish to participate. The concert will begin at 7:00 PM. \nYAGODY’s performances transcend the traditional concert format\, creating what they describe as an “ethno-drama”—a fusion of Ukrainian vocal polyphony\, theatrical storytelling\, and ritualistic elements. Their performances unfold like a ritual—blending voice\, movement\, rhythm\, and silence into an experience that feels at once intimate and expansive. The human voice becomes a vessel of memory\, and the stage transforms into a shared space where past and present meet. \nYAGODY has gained international recognition for their unique artistic approach\, participating in Ukraine’s Eurovision National Selection (2024–2025) and performing at major festivals and venues across Europe\, including FITS in Romania\, Pannonica in Poland\, Rudolstadt Festival in Germany\, and Sziget Festival in Hungary. Their tours have brought Ukrainian vocal traditions to audiences throughout Europe and North America\, presenting them as a vibrant and evolving art form. \nThe concert is open to all ages\, with a suggested donation of $20–$30\, 100% of which goes directly to the performers\, supporting artists and sustaining live music. \nEvent Details\nSunday\, April 5\nPotluck Dinner: 6:00 PM (optional)\nConcert: 7:00 PM\nBishop Hill Creative Commons\n309 North Bishop Hill Street\nBishop Hill\, Illinois \nFor tickets and more information about upcoming concerts and events please visit xroadscc.org.

Those who wish to participate are encouraged to bring a dish to share\, though it is not required. Together they create a dynamic and expressive sound that highlights the artistry of each musician while honoring centuries-old traditions. \nGrosse Isle has performed widely across Canada\, the United States\, and internationally\, with notable appearances at Celtic Connections in Scotland (2022 & 2023)\, WOMEX in Portugal (2021)\, Milwaukee Irish Fest (2023)\, and the Canada Games (2022). \nTheir recordings have earned widespread praise from folk and traditional music critics around the world. Their follow-up Portraits (2018) was called “one of the downright most enjoyable albums to have come this way for a considerable time” by Froots magazine (UK). Their 2021 release The Bonesetter was hailed as “nothing short of fantastic” by Roots Music Canada. The trio has also received numerous nominations from the Canadian Folk Music Awards\, ADISQ\, and GAMIQ. \nPresented by Crossroads Cultural Connections\, the concert continues the organization’s mission of bringing world-class music and cultural experiences to the region. \nThe event is open to all ages. SUMMARY:Kris Lager Brings Soul\, Blues & “Celebrate Life” Energy to Bishop Hill
DESCRIPTION:Crossroads Cultural Connections proudly presents Nebraska-based blues and soul powerhouse Kris Lager on Sunday\, March 8th at Bishop Hill Creative Commons for an evening of high-energy music\, heartfelt songwriting\, and pure communal joy. \nThe night begins at 6:00PM with an optional community potluck dinner (bring a dish to share if you’d like to join)\, followed by the concert at 7:00PM. This is an all-ages show\, and a $20–30 donation is suggested. \nFor more than two decades\, Kris Lager—a Lincoln native now rooted in Omaha—has crisscrossed the country as a true musical journeyman. Blending blues\, soul\, rock\, and roots music into a sound that is entirely his own\, Lager delivers performances that are less like concerts and more like communal celebrations. Expect dancing\, clapping\, “soul clappin’\,” and stage-shaking charisma. \nAt the core of his music is his “Celebrate Life” mantra—a spirited commitment to uplifting audiences through honest\, soul-stirring lyrics and deeply rooted grooves. Rather than climbing the traditional music industry ladder\, Lager has built his following the old-fashioned way: relentless touring\, authentic songwriting\, and genuine connection with listeners. \nPraised by peers and industry veterans alike\, Grammy-winning producer Jim Gaines—who mixed two of Lager’s records—called him “a great voice with great songs.” Blues Rock Review describes him simply as “a fantastic songwriter\,” while Paste Magazine notes that his music delivers “the kind of toe-tapping rhythm that sometimes you just need to make it through a day.” \nLager’s songwriting reach continues to expand. He recently co-penned the roots-infused track “Tumbleweed” with Andy Frasco and legendary swamp-rock singer J.J. Grey—further testament to his versatility and respect within the music community. \nAudiences at Bishop Hill Creative Commons can expect a night of infectious rhythm\, honest storytelling\, and the unmistakable energy of an artist who truly loves what he does. \nBishop Hill Creative Commons is operated by Crossroads Cultural Connections\, a nonprofit dedicated to building stronger rural communities through live music and the arts. \nPlan your next Kris Lager show\, bring a friend (and maybe a side dish)\, and witness the magic of a seasoned performer who channels the human spirit through song and dance. \nFor more information please visit xroadscc.org.

SUMMARY:Dan Tedesco
DESCRIPTION:Dan Tedesco Brings Raw\, Electrifying Songcraft to Bishop Hill Creative Commons \n  \nBishop Hill\, IL — Crossroads Cultural Connections proudly presents acclaimed American singer-songwriter Dan Tedesco on Sunday\, March 1st at Bishop Hill Creative Commons for an unforgettable evening of powerful songwriting and dynamic live performance. \nThe night begins at 6:00PM with an optional community potluck dinner (guests are invited to bring a dish to share)\, followed by the concert at 7:00PM. This is an all-ages show\, and a $20–30 donation is suggested. \nOriginally from the far west suburbs of Chicago\, Dan Tedesco blends the timeless songwriting traditions of The Beatles\, Bob Dylan\, Neil Young\, Bruce Springsteen\, and Tom Petty with a deep jazz background and the gritty crunch of early ’90s grunge. The result is a sound that feels both classic and contemporary—layered\, thoughtful\, and emotionally charged. \nTedesco’s records are rich collections of stories set against expansive sonic landscapes\, often exploring what he sees as the defining tension of his generation: the balance between humanity and technology. His newest album\, The Overwhelming\, is being released in an innovative format through his self-created music platform\, the DTMC (Dan Tedesco Music Channel)\, issuing one song per month. MusicInMinnesota described the platform as something that “could very well be the new groundwork for how musicians share what they create.” \nBut it’s on stage where Tedesco truly comes alive. His live performances have been described as bordering on performance art—raw\, intense\, and wholly original. One fan recently compared his show to “a one-man UFC match… him against his guitar\,” capturing the visceral energy he brings to every note. It’s a performance style that is honest\, physical\, and deeply compelling. \nOver the years\, Tedesco has toured nationally\, sharing stages with artists including Blues Traveler\, David Lindley\, Chris Shiflett (Foo Fighters)\, Chuck Prophet\, Alejandro Escovedo\, Anders Osborne\, Gin Blossoms\, Langhorne Slim\, Lucero\, Old 97’s\, and Josh Rouse. \nAudiences at Bishop Hill Creative Commons can expect an evening that is intimate yet explosive—filled with gripping melodies\, thoughtful storytelling\, and a performer who leaves everything on the stage. \nBring a dish\, bring a friend\, and experience a night of music that is as authentic as it is unforgettable. \nFor tickets and more information please visit xroadscc.org.

SUMMARY:Alasdair Fraser & Natalie Haas
DESCRIPTION:Crossroads Cultural Connections proudly presents internationally acclaimed duo Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas on Tuesday\, February 24th at Bishop Hill Creative Commons. Known for their cutting-edge explorations of Scottish and global music\, Fraser and Haas have redefined what fiddle and cello can do together. \nThe evening begins at 6:00PM with an optional community potluck dinner (bring a dish to share if you’d like to join)\, followed by the concert at 7:00PM. This is an all-ages show\, and a $20–30 donation is suggested. \nDescribed by the Boston Globe as sounding “as urbane as a Manhattan midnight\, and as wild as a Clackmannan winter\,” Fraser and Haas create a musical experience that moves effortlessly between intimate chamber music and ecstatic dance energy. Their partnership\, now spanning more than 25 years\, has set the gold standard for fiddle and cello in traditional music. \nAlasdair Fraser—often called “the Michael Jordan of Scottish fiddling”—is one of the most respected exponents of the Scots fiddle. With a career spanning more than three decades\, he has been featured on major film soundtracks including The Last of the Mohicans and Titanic\, and was inducted into the Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame in 2011. \nNatalie Haas\, a graduate of The Juilliard School\, is one of the most sought-after cellists in traditional music. She has performed and recorded with luminaries including Mark O’Connor\, Natalie MacMaster\, Solas\, Altan\, Darol Anger\, and many others. More than a cellist\, Haas functions as a rhythm section unto herself\, using percussive bowing and bass-like pizzicato to anchor and propel the music. \nTogether\, they have revitalized the cello’s historic role at the rhythmic heart of Scottish dance music—something rarely heard in modern traditional settings. Their debut album Fire & Grace won the prestigious Scots Trad Music Album of the Year award\, and five subsequent recordings have continued to push boundaries while honoring tradition. \nCritics consistently highlight the duo’s near-telepathic interplay and spontaneity. As The Herald notes\, their music-making remains strikingly responsive and alive\, with moments that feel like “floodgates opening.” \nBeyond the stage\, Fraser and Haas have inspired generations of musicians through teaching at fiddle camps around the world\, sharing their passion for tradition and innovation alike. \nDon’t miss this rare opportunity to experience two masters of their craft in the intimate setting of Bishop Hill Creative Commons. Bring a dish\, bring a friend\, and prepare for an unforgettable evening of soaring melodies\, driving rhythms\, and musical magic. \nFor tickets and more information please visit xroadscc.org.

This is an all-ages show\, with a suggested donation of $20–30\, all of which supports the artist. \nChloe Kimes has quickly become one of the most compelling new voices in contemporary folk and alt-country. Her rise reached a turning point after a live performance of her song “Coors Light” at WDVX’s Blue Plate Special in Knoxville went viral\, amassing more than 4 million views across social media in just one week. Responding to overwhelming demand\, Kimes moved swiftly—recording the studio version at RCA Studio A with producer Phillip Smith and releasing the single within weeks of its online debut. \nRooted in the songwriting traditions of John Prine\, John Hartford\, and Tom T. Hall\, “Coors Light” radiates joy\, gratitude\, and authenticity. Driven by a ripping mandolin and a classic country lineup—pedal steel\, upright bass\, acoustic guitar\, and drums—the song has drawn in countless new listeners\, many commenting\, “I never liked country music until I heard this.” \nBorn and raised along the lakeshores of northern Michigan\, Kimes grew up immersed in folk festivals\, family harmonies\, and rural back roads. She built a devoted following by touring small Michigan towns from the age of fourteen before relocating to Nashville in 2016 to pursue her career full time. Since then\, she has emerged as a defining voice of a new generation of folk-singing troubadours—pairing an old-soul approach to storytelling with the energy of a modern alt-country band. \nKimes released her self-titled debut album in 2022 to wide acclaim\, earning comparisons to Lucinda Williams\, a spot on NPR Music’s Top 10 Nashville Artists on the Rise\, and Listener’s Choice Album of the Year honors from WYCE Radio’s Jammie Awards. Following in the footsteps of fellow Michigan-to-Nashville artists\, she continues to forge a powerful\, genre-bridging sound that is resonating with audiences nationwide. \nBishop Hill Creative Commons invites the community to experience Chloe Kimes’ powerful songwriting and dynamic live performance in an intimate setting that emphasizes connection\, listening\, and shared experience. \nEvent Details:\n📍 Bishop Hill Creative Commons\, Bishop Hill\, IL\n🗓 Wednesday\, January 28\n🍽 Optional Potluck: 6:00 PM\n🎶 Concert: 7:00 PM\n💵 Suggested Donation: $20–30\n👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 All Ages Welcome \n  \nFor tickets and more information please visit xroadscc.org.

SUMMARY:Adam Hood with Special Guest Rye Davis to Perform in Bishop Hill
DESCRIPTION:Crossroads Cultural Connections is proud to present acclaimed southern songwriter and performer Adam Hood\, with special guest Rye Davis\, live in concert at Bishop Hill Creative Commons on Saturday\, November 15. The evening begins with an optional community potluck dinner at 6 p.m. (bring a dish to share if you’d like to join)\, followed by the concert at 7 p.m. This all-ages show encourages a suggested donation of $25–35\, with all proceeds going directly to the artists. \nFor more than a decade\, Adam Hood has been a revered figure in the Americana and country scenes — a “songwriter’s songwriter” whose work bridges country\, soul\, and American roots music. The Alabama native’s songs have been recorded by Miranda Lambert\, Little Big Town\, Brent Cobb\, Anderson East\, and Lee Ann Womack\, among others. A gifted performer as well as a hitmaker\, Hood’s own albums — including Welcome to the Big World and Somewhere in Between — showcase his ability to turn blue-collar storytelling into something both deeply personal and universally resonant. \nHood’s performances are raw\, real\, and rooted in his Southern heritage — equal parts roadhouse grit and front-porch soul. His sound\, he says\, is simply “Southern songs — the soulful side\, the country side\, and the genuineness of how I grew up.” \nOpening the evening is Rye Davis\, a rising modern-day troubadour from Pig\, Kentucky\, whose smooth\, distinctive vocals and heartfelt songwriting carry on the tradition of true country storytelling. With a warm stage presence and a style that blends classic country sincerity with contemporary flair\, Davis has been winning fans across the country as a torchbearer for authentic American music. \n“Adam Hood is one of those rare songwriters who bridges Nashville credibility with real Southern soul. You’ve heard his songs performed by legends. Come meet the man behind the songs\,” said John Taylor of Crossroads Cultural Connections. “Pairing him with Rye Davis — who’s bringing honesty and heart back to country music — will make for a night of songs and storytelling that’s as genuine and memorable as it gets.”

SUMMARY:World-Renowned Pianist Radoslav Lorković
DESCRIPTION:Crossroads Cultural Connections is proud to present an evening with internationally acclaimed pianist Radoslav Lorković at Bishop Hill Creative Commons on Sunday\, November 9. SUMMARY:Common Man to Perform at Bishop Hill Creative Commons
DESCRIPTION:Crossroads Cultural Connections is proud to present Common Man\, the rising indie-pop duo from Huntsville\, Alabama\, at Bishop Hill Creative Commons on Thursday\, November 6. The evening begins at 6:00 p.m. with an optional potluck dinner (bring a dish to share if you’d like to join)\, followed by the concert at 7:00 p.m. This all-ages show invites music lovers of every generation to enjoy a night of captivating harmonies\, moving stories\, and genuine southern soul. A $20–30 donation is suggested. \n  \nCommon Man—comprised of husband-and-wife team Meredith Johnson and Compton McMurry—craft a deeply personal and emotionally rich sound that blurs the lines between indie-pop\, folk\, and Americana. Their songs explore love\, faith\, and the everyday struggles and triumphs of life together\, creating music that resonates with honesty and heart. \nSince launching the project in 2022\, Meredith and Compton have taken bold risks to pursue their dream. With no manager\, booking agent\, or tour support\, they hit the road for a self-booked tour across Alabama\, Tennessee\, Oklahoma\, and Texas—playing small venues\, house shows\, and anywhere people were willing to listen. That grassroots hustle paid off: they’ve built a growing fan base and are now on their second tour\, performing to enthusiastic audiences across the country. \n“We’ve learned that success in music isn’t about shortcuts—it’s about connecting with people\,” says Meredith. “Every show\, every conversation\, every drive to a new town plants a seed for what’s next.” \nTheir latest single\, “Vermont\,” captures that spirit perfectly—an intimate reflection on travel\, love\, and the pull of home. Available on Spotify\, Apple Music\, and YouTube\, it showcases the duo’s blend of poetic lyricism and vibrant\, melodic energy. \nThe band also advocates for the importance of supporting live music as a cornerstone of community life. “Streaming is wonderful\,” says Compton\, “but live shows are where real connection happens. That’s where you feel music come alive.” \n“Common Man brings the kind of authenticity and heart that fits perfectly with what we aim to create at Bishop Hill Creative Commons\,” said John Taylor\, President of Crossroads Cultural Connections. “Our goal is to connect audiences and artists in meaningful ways—sharing music\, food\, and community in a space where everyone feels welcome.”
