A suggested donation of $20 to $30 will be collected. \nThe October 16 performance marks the beginning of Crossroads Cultural Connections’ indoor concert season\, which will continue at Bishop Hill Creative Commons through May 15. \nViele has built a reputation as a dynamic live performer and deeply personal songwriter\, earning multiple New England Music Awards\, including Album of the Year\, Male Performer of the Year\, Live Act of the Year and two honors for Songwriter of the Year. \nHis music is rooted in what he describes as New England blues rock\, but his sound stretches well beyond any single genre. Drawing from rock\, blues\, folk\, country and soul\, Viele pairs powerful vocals and expressive guitar work with songs that explore life\, love\, regret\, resilience and the passage of time. \nAfter years of relentless touring and recording\, the pandemic forced Viele to slow down and rethink his relationship with time and creativity. That period led to a writing and recording collaboration in Muscle Shoals\, Alabama\, with producer Jimmy Nutt\, whose credits include Jason Isbell\, American Aquarium and The Dead South\, and songwriter James LeBlanc\, whose work includes collaborations with Travis Tritt\, Will Hoge\, Tim McGraw\, Faith Hill and others. \nThat creative chapter helped produce the 2021 EP Time Is A Thief and later work that continued to earn Viele praise for his storytelling\, songwriting and vocal delivery. \nViele’s career has also been shaped by years on the road. Since releasing his first solo album in 2015\, he has played hundreds of shows and shared stages with artists including John Waite\, Jeffrey Gaines\, Lee DeWyze\, Zach Myers of Shinedown\, The Wailers\, Howie Day\, Xavier Rudd\, Ingrid Michaelson\, Tony Lucca\, Pat McGee and Blues Traveler. \nHis live performances are known for their intensity\, honesty and connection with audiences. DESCRIPTION:Bruce Moon & The Amplifiers will perform at Bishop Hill Creative Commons on Saturday\, October 17\, bringing an evening of original music shaped by storytelling\, social conscience and a distinctly Midwestern perspective. \nPresented by Crossroads Cultural Connections\, the all-ages evening will begin with an optional potluck dinner at 6 p.m.\, followed by the concert at 7 p.m. Guests who would like to participate in the potluck are invited to bring a dish to share. A suggested donation of $20 to $30 will be collected. \nBruce Moon is a singer-songwriter\, painter\, poet\, performance artist\, art therapist and longtime educator whose work has been shaped by decades spent listening to people’s stories. The son of a single mother from a small town in Ohio\, Moon blends contemporary Midwestern sensibilities with social conscience\, humor and reflection. \nMoon spent 22 years working as an art therapist in a psychiatric hospital\, much of that time caring for children and adolescents who had experienced abuse. He was also an ordained Methodist and later spent two decades as a university professor. Those experiences continue to inform his songwriting. \n“Everybody has a story and I hope my work brings honor to the folks I have encountered\,” Moon says. He often describes his artistic philosophy by saying that a good song should comfort people who have been afflicted by the world and afflict those who have grown too comfortable. \nA concertgoer once described Moon’s performances this way: “Bruce’s songs and stories make me laugh\, let me cry\, and push me to think about my life.” \nMoon has logged decades of stage time\, from coffeehouses\, churches and college campuses to pubs\, street festivals and concert venues. He has performed in settings ranging from Galway\, Ireland\, and Seattle to Savannah\, San Antonio and Bishop Hill. \nWith The Amplifiers\, Moon brings those songs into a fuller band setting. The group features Justin Tirone on lead guitar\, violin and keyboards; Brian Rejack on bass and trombone; and Ben Wyman on percussion. The band follows a simple rule: “All original\, all the time.” \nTogether\, they create music that draws from folk\, rock\, roots and singer-songwriter traditions while remaining firmly centered on Moon’s original stories and observations. The band is also working on new material\, including a project tentatively titled Malcontents and Mutineers. \nMoon’s creative life extends well beyond the stage. He is professor emeritus of art therapy and has authored 12 books used in art therapy programs. Her acoustic-driven songs explore love\, loss\, empowerment\, rage\, sensuality and the complicated realities of being human\, delivered with an emotional honesty that has connected with audiences around the world. \nThe New York Times has described Klein as “a songwriter with a voice of unblinking tenacity.” \nOver the course of her career\, Klein has performed everywhere from intimate listening rooms and theaters to major festivals in front of tens of thousands of people. She has toured nationally and internationally in support of Arlo Guthrie\, Josh Ritter\, Damien Dempsey\, John Fullbright and Jonathan Byrd\, and has opened for artists including Ani DiFranco\, Steve Earle and Alejandro Escovedo. \nHer performances have taken her to the Newport Folk Festival\, Winnipeg Folk Festival\, Falcon Ridge Folk Festival\, Philadelphia Folk Festival and Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival.
