SUMMARY:Irene’s Entropy and The Identity Project coming to Bishop Hill
DESCRIPTION:Crossroads Cultural Connections is honored to present Irene’s Entropy in concert on Sunday\, February 8 at Bishop Hill Creative Commons. This special early afternoon show will begin with an optional potluck dinner at 2:00 PM (bring a dish to share if you’d like)\, followed by the concert at 3:00 PM\, allowing guests plenty of time to make it home for the Super Bowl. The event is all-ages\, with a suggested donation of $20–30. \nThis gathering will also serve as a time to honor and celebrate the life of Dave Cygan\, a beloved member of the community who passed away last April. Friends\, family\, and community members are invited to come together in remembrance\, reflection\, and shared experience through music and art. \nIrene’s Entropy is more than a concert—it is a cultural experience that blends music\, storytelling\, philosophy\, and community. Irene is a singer-songwriter and storyteller whose work is shaped by resilience\, transformation\, and a deep curiosity about how people navigate change. With a background in engineering and a life marked by profound personal growth\, she brings a unique blend of analytical insight and emotional depth to her performances. \nHer music unfolds as theatrical storytelling drawn from lived experience\, crossing genres and instruments while inviting listeners into moments of reflection and connection. Beyond the stage\, Irene leads creative ventures such as Door Walker Coffee and Golf with Irene\, each rooted in the idea of courageously walking through life’s transitions. \nAt this event\, Irene will also display selections from her Identity Project\, a powerful visual and written art installation created from responses to three questions posed to her audience: \n\nWhat was your identity before your trauma experience?\nWhat did you like or not like about that identity?\nWhat is your identity now?\n\nThese deeply personal responses have been transformed into artwork\, offering an additional layer of reflection and community dialogue alongside the music. \nCurrently focused on cultural advocacy\, Irene uses her art and platform to counter division and promote emotional intelligence\, communication\, and belief in one another. With more than half a million supporters online\, she has become a compelling voice for unity during a time of fragmentation. \nThis afternoon gathering promises to be meaningful\, reflective\, and connective—an opportunity to honor a life\, share stories\, and experience art as a communal act. \nEvent Details:\n📍 Bishop Hill Creative Commons\, Bishop Hill\, IL\n🗓 Sunday\, February 8\n🍽 Optional Potluck: 2:00 PM\n🎶 Concert: 3:00 PM\n💵 Suggested Donation: $20–30\n👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 All Ages Welcome

SUMMARY:Chloe Hoecker coming to Bishop Hill
DESCRIPTION:Crossroads Cultural Connections is pleased to present Chloe Hoecker in concert at Bishop Hill Creative Commons on Thursday\, February 5. The evening will begin with an optional potluck dinner at 6:00 PM\, followed by the concert at 7:00 PM. This is an all-ages show\, with a suggested donation of $20–30. \nOften referred to as “Missouri’s Country Sweetheart\,” Chloe Hoecker brings together hardworking grit\, honest songwriting\, and powerful vocals with a warm\, engaging stage presence. A seasoned performer since the age of ten\, Hoecker has played hundreds of acoustic country shows throughout Missouri\, earning a reputation for energetic performances and a voice that balances sweetness with just the right amount of sass. \nBefore entering her twenties\, Hoecker began focusing deeply on songwriting—crafting lyrics and melodies that are intensely personal yet widely relatable. Her music explores a wide emotional range\, inviting listeners to feel everything from nostalgia and pride to pain and quiet reflection. While she doesn’t confine herself to a single sub-genre of country music\, her commitment is clear: to create and perform original songs that make both her and her audience feel something. \nCurrently splitting time between the stage and studio sessions in Nashville\, Hoecker released four singles in 2025 and is preparing to unveil her debut EP in early 2026. And while her sound continues to evolve\, two things remain constant: she’s never afraid to speak her mind (politely\, of course)\, and there’s always a fiddle somewhere in the mix. \nThis concert offers a chance to catch a rising country songwriter in an intimate setting\, connecting directly with the stories and songs that are quickly earning her fans across the Midwest and beyond. \nEvent Details:\n📍 Bishop Hill Creative Commons\, Bishop Hill\, IL\n🗓 Thursday\, February 5\n🍽 Optional Potluck: 6:00 PM\n🎶 Concert: 7:00 PM\n💵 Suggested Donation: $20–30\n👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 All Ages Welcome \nFor tickets and more information please visit xroadscc.org.

SUMMARY:Chloe Kimes to Perform in Bishop Hill
DESCRIPTION:Crossroads Cultural Connections is pleased to present Chloe Kimes in concert at Bishop Hill Creative Commons on Wednesday\, January 28. The evening will begin with an optional potluck dinner at 6:00 PM (guests are welcome to bring a dish to share)\, followed by the concert at 7:00 PM. This is an all-ages show\, with a suggested donation of $20–30\, all of which supports the artist. \nChloe Kimes has quickly become one of the most compelling new voices in contemporary folk and alt-country. Her rise reached a turning point after a live performance of her song “Coors Light” at WDVX’s Blue Plate Special in Knoxville went viral\, amassing more than 4 million views across social media in just one week. Responding to overwhelming demand\, Kimes moved swiftly—recording the studio version at RCA Studio A with producer Phillip Smith and releasing the single within weeks of its online debut. \nRooted in the songwriting traditions of John Prine\, John Hartford\, and Tom T. Hall\, “Coors Light” radiates joy\, gratitude\, and authenticity. Driven by a ripping mandolin and a classic country lineup—pedal steel\, upright bass\, acoustic guitar\, and drums—the song has drawn in countless new listeners\, many commenting\, “I never liked country music until I heard this.” \nBorn and raised along the lakeshores of northern Michigan\, Kimes grew up immersed in folk festivals\, family harmonies\, and rural back roads. She built a devoted following by touring small Michigan towns from the age of fourteen before relocating to Nashville in 2016 to pursue her career full time. Since then\, she has emerged as a defining voice of a new generation of folk-singing troubadours—pairing an old-soul approach to storytelling with the energy of a modern alt-country band. \nKimes released her self-titled debut album in 2022 to wide acclaim\, earning comparisons to Lucinda Williams\, a spot on NPR Music’s Top 10 Nashville Artists on the Rise\, and Listener’s Choice Album of the Year honors from WYCE Radio’s Jammie Awards. Following in the footsteps of fellow Michigan-to-Nashville artists\, she continues to forge a powerful\, genre-bridging sound that is resonating with audiences nationwide. \nBishop Hill Creative Commons invites the community to experience Chloe Kimes’ powerful songwriting and dynamic live performance in an intimate setting that emphasizes connection\, listening\, and shared experience. \nEvent Details:\n📍 Bishop Hill Creative Commons\, Bishop Hill\, IL\n🗓 Wednesday\, January 28\n🍽 Optional Potluck: 6:00 PM\n🎶 Concert: 7:00 PM\n💵 Suggested Donation: $20–30\n👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 All Ages Welcome \n  \nFor tickets and more information please visit xroadscc.org.

SUMMARY:El Khat Brings Their Groundbreaking Yemeni Sound to Bishop Hill
DESCRIPTION:Audiences are invited to experience one of the most innovative and culturally rich musical acts touring today as El Khat\, the boundary-pushing Arabic-Yemeni trio\, performs at Bishop Hill Creative Commons on Monday\, November 17. \nThe evening begins with a community potluck and social hour at 6:00 p.m.\, followed by the concert at 7:00 p.m. The event is all ages and family-friendly\, offering a rare opportunity to experience a globally acclaimed sound in an intimate local setting. Guests are welcome to bring their own food\, drinks\, lawn chairs\, or blankets. \nA $20–$30 suggested donation is requested\, with 100% of proceeds going directly to the performers. \nAbout El Khat\nFormed in 2019\, El Khat has risen to international attention for their electrifying blend of traditional Yemeni rhythms\, experimental composition\, and striking use of DIY\, self-made instruments. Born from jam sessions in garages and warehouses\, the group forged a sound rooted in heritage yet radically modern in approach. \nTheir music is shaped by Yemeni cultural memory\, war-driven displacement\, and reconstructed identity — themes that echo through every rhythmic pattern and vocal cry. \nWhile El Khat embraces a philosophy of detachment from national borders\, their connection to Yemeni culture is unmistakable\, pulsing through their use of traditional percussive forms and the evocative timbre of the homemade instruments they build themselves. \nWith three albums released and a fourth arriving in 2026\, El Khat is celebrated for bridging past and present\, reviving Yemeni tradition while fearlessly reimagining its future. Their performances have become known worldwide for their emotional depth\, raw inventiveness\, and powerful cultural storytelling. \nEl Khat are:\n🎵 Eyal el Wahab – seer\, kearat\, pahit (self-made instruments)\, lead vocals\n🥁 Lo tan Yaish – drum kit (self-made instruments)\, backing vocals\n🎹 Yefet Hassan – organ\, percussion (self-made instruments)\, backing vocals \nTogether\, they create a sound that is earthy\, urgent\, hypnotic\, and wholly unique — a testament to the resilience and creativity of a people scattered across continents yet united by rhythm.

SUMMARY:Adam Hood with Special Guest Rye Davis to Perform in Bishop Hill
DESCRIPTION:Crossroads Cultural Connections is proud to present acclaimed southern songwriter and performer Adam Hood\, with special guest Rye Davis\, live in concert at Bishop Hill Creative Commons on Saturday\, November 15. The evening begins with an optional community potluck dinner at 6 p.m. (bring a dish to share if you’d like to join)\, followed by the concert at 7 p.m. This all-ages show encourages a suggested donation of $25–35\, with all proceeds going directly to the artists. \nFor more than a decade\, Adam Hood has been a revered figure in the Americana and country scenes — a “songwriter’s songwriter” whose work bridges country\, soul\, and American roots music. The Alabama native’s songs have been recorded by Miranda Lambert\, Little Big Town\, Brent Cobb\, Anderson East\, and Lee Ann Womack\, among others. A gifted performer as well as a hitmaker\, Hood’s own albums — including Welcome to the Big World and Somewhere in Between — showcase his ability to turn blue-collar storytelling into something both deeply personal and universally resonant. \nHood’s performances are raw\, real\, and rooted in his Southern heritage — equal parts roadhouse grit and front-porch soul. His sound\, he says\, is simply “Southern songs — the soulful side\, the country side\, and the genuineness of how I grew up.” \nOpening the evening is Rye Davis\, a rising modern-day troubadour from Pig\, Kentucky\, whose smooth\, distinctive vocals and heartfelt songwriting carry on the tradition of true country storytelling. With a warm stage presence and a style that blends classic country sincerity with contemporary flair\, Davis has been winning fans across the country as a torchbearer for authentic American music. \n“Adam Hood is one of those rare songwriters who bridges Nashville credibility with real Southern soul. You’ve heard his songs performed by legends. Come meet the man behind the songs\,” said John Taylor of Crossroads Cultural Connections. “Pairing him with Rye Davis — who’s bringing honesty and heart back to country music — will make for a night of songs and storytelling that’s as genuine and memorable as it gets.”

SUMMARY:Common Man to Perform at Bishop Hill Creative Commons
DESCRIPTION:Crossroads Cultural Connections is proud to present Common Man\, the rising indie-pop duo from Huntsville\, Alabama\, at Bishop Hill Creative Commons on Thursday\, November 6. The evening begins at 6:00 p.m. with an optional potluck dinner (bring a dish to share if you’d like to join)\, followed by the concert at 7:00 p.m. This all-ages show invites music lovers of every generation to enjoy a night of captivating harmonies\, moving stories\, and genuine southern soul. A $20–30 donation is suggested. \n  \nCommon Man—comprised of husband-and-wife team Meredith Johnson and Compton McMurry—craft a deeply personal and emotionally rich sound that blurs the lines between indie-pop\, folk\, and Americana. Their songs explore love\, faith\, and the everyday struggles and triumphs of life together\, creating music that resonates with honesty and heart. \nSince launching the project in 2022\, Meredith and Compton have taken bold risks to pursue their dream. With no manager\, booking agent\, or tour support\, they hit the road for a self-booked tour across Alabama\, Tennessee\, Oklahoma\, and Texas—playing small venues\, house shows\, and anywhere people were willing to listen. That grassroots hustle paid off: they’ve built a growing fan base and are now on their second tour\, performing to enthusiastic audiences across the country. \n“We’ve learned that success in music isn’t about shortcuts—it’s about connecting with people\,” says Meredith. “Every show\, every conversation\, every drive to a new town plants a seed for what’s next.” \nTheir latest single\, “Vermont\,” captures that spirit perfectly—an intimate reflection on travel\, love\, and the pull of home. Available on Spotify\, Apple Music\, and YouTube\, it showcases the duo’s blend of poetic lyricism and vibrant\, melodic energy. \nThe band also advocates for the importance of supporting live music as a cornerstone of community life. “Streaming is wonderful\,” says Compton\, “but live shows are where real connection happens. That’s where you feel music come alive.” \n“Common Man brings the kind of authenticity and heart that fits perfectly with what we aim to create at Bishop Hill Creative Commons\,” said John Taylor\, President of Crossroads Cultural Connections. “Our goal is to connect audiences and artists in meaningful ways—sharing music\, food\, and community in a space where everyone feels welcome.”

SUMMARY:Two Bands\, One Unforgettable Night
DESCRIPTION:The Sweet Lillies and Adrian + Meredith Live at Bishop Hill Creative Commons \nGet ready for an electrifying night of roots\, rhythm\, and harmony as Bishop Hill Creative Commons proudly presents The Sweet Lillies with special guests Adrian + Meredith on Saturday\, November 1st. The evening begins with an optional community potluck dinner at 6 p.m. (bring a dish to share if you’d like to join)\, followed by the concert at 7 p.m. This is an all-ages event\, and a $20–30 donation is suggested. \nHailing from Colorado\, The Sweet Lillies have built their reputation on blending old-time soul with modern vibrancy. With an all-acoustic lineup—guitar\, viola\, upright bass\, and drums—and harmonies that seem to float effortlessly\, the quartet creates a sound both timeless and fresh. Members Julie Gussaroff\, Becca Bisque\, Jones Maynard\, and Dustin Rohleder craft vivid\, heartfelt songs rooted in life’s shared experiences. Their music tells powerful stories with warmth\, grace\, and energy—drawing in audiences wherever they play. \nSharing the bill are East Nashville’s dynamic duo Adrian + Meredith\, whose kinetic mix of klezmer\, roots rock\, swing\, punk\, and folk is as danceable as it is deeply human. From the Grand Ole Opry to European tours supporting Ukrainian refugees\, Adrian + Meredith’s music bridges worlds and generations with grit\, humor\, and heart. \nCritics call their performances “a world-class experience” (Carson City Levitt AMP) and “roots rock perfection” (No Depression). With songs like “Stop the Spiral” and “Klezmer American” capturing the pulse of life in 2024\, their show is as thought-provoking as it is irresistibly fun. \nTogether\, these two powerhouse acts promise a night of unforgettable musicianship\, community\, and spirit—right in the heart of Henry County.

SUMMARY:An Evening of Song and Story
DESCRIPTION:An Evening of Song and Story with Bruce Moon at Bishop Hill Creative Commons \nOn Sunday\, October 26\, Bishop Hill Creative Commons welcomes acclaimed singer-songwriter\, poet\, and painter Bruce Moon for an intimate evening of music\, stories\, and reflection. The evening begins at 6 p.m. with an optional community potluck dinner—bring a dish to share if you’d like to join—and the concert starts at 7 p.m. This is an all-ages event\, with a suggested donation of $20–30. \nA prolific and deeply introspective artist\, Bruce Moon has released more than 32 LPs on Apple Music\, Spotify\, and Pandora\, and his creative output spans over 350 videos on YouTube. A lifelong storyteller\, Bruce’s music draws from his remarkable journey as a former ordained Methodist minister\, art therapist\, and university professor. Having spent decades working with people in hospitals and classrooms\, his songs give voice to real lives and emotions—seeking\, as he says\, “to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.” \nBruce’s performances blend humor\, humanity\, and hard-won wisdom. One audience member described the experience perfectly: “Bruce’s songs and stories make me laugh\, let me cry\, and push me to think about my life.” \nOver the years\, Bruce has performed in venues across the country and abroad—from public radio stations to Irish pubs\, street festivals\, and university stages. He has been a frequent and beloved performer at Bishop Hill Creative Commons and is currently working with a band on a new album slated for release in late 2025. \nJoin us for a night of heartfelt songs\, shared stories\, and community connection in the warm and welcoming setting of Bishop Hill Creative Commons.
