As of the year 2000 census, the population of Galva was 2,758, split fairly evenly between male and female residents with females outnumbering males by a total of 156. Children (including infants, youths and teenagers) make up 27.2% of our population with the largest concentration in the 10 years to 19 years old range.
Older adults (45 and up) make up the rest of the population (41.8%), with the bulk of those represented by mid-lifers in the age group of 45 to 54.
The population of Galva is 99.1% white, with the remainder comprised of Blacks or African Americans, American Indians and Alaska Natives, Asians, Native Hawaiian and other Pacific Islanders, and other unspecified races.
Of those residents twenty-five years of age or older, fully 86.3 percent have a high school diploma or higher; and of those, 16.4 have a bachelor's degree or higher.
